A man who took advantage of maize fields and allegedly raped the complainant has been taken to court.
Danmore Marwei, 34, of St Mary’s, Chitungwiza, appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei charged with rape.
He was ordered to appear in court on April 2.
The complainant in this matter is an 18-year-old.
The State, through prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti, alleges that at an isolated footpath which passes through a maize field located at corner Coventry and Rekayi Tangwena roads in Harare, Marwei followed the complainant.
The complainant was allegedly walking along the footpath and when she was around the middle of the field, Marwei appeared from behind and pulled her braids and she fell down on her back.
The State alleges that Marwei took advantage of how isolated the area was and raped the complainant.
After that, Marwei allegedly threatened to kill the complainant with a knife as she cried for help.
