A man has been taken to court on robbery and attempted murder charges after he allegedly stole and assaulted a complainant.

Kelvin Nyabocho, of Hopley Zone 2, Waterfalls, appeared before magistrate Standford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with attempted murder and robbery.

He will appear in court on March 21 and the court advised him to apply for a bail at the High Court.

The State, through prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, alleges that on March 11, at around 2200 hours, the complainant was coming from shops on his way home and came across two men. When he passed them, one of them produced a kitchen knife and pointed it at the complainant’s neck.

He allegedly ordered him to sit down and to surrender what he had.

The complainant complied and the two accused searched him and stole a wallet which had US$106, Huawei Honor phone, a bottom and shoes.

After searching him, one of the accused allegedly hit the complainant with an iron bar on the head and stepped on his head several times before they left him lying on the ground.

It is alleged that on March 12, Nyabocho was arrested.
