Husband, lover gang up to assault wife

A 41-year-old man has been taken to court for assaulting both his wife, Priscilla Sibanda,38.

Blessing Choga, of Avondale West, appeared at the Harare Magistrate's Courts charged with physical abuse.

The State alleges that on July 7, 2024, Sibanda was asleep when she felt like she was dreaming seeing someone in the house. She woke up and checked right round the house.

When she went to her kitchen, she found her husband with his girlfriend in the house.

It is alleged that Sibanda started shouting at Choga asking him what he was doing with his girlfriend in the house.

She allegedly went on to tell him that he was spending money with his girlfriend yet failing to send their child to school.

The court heard that Choga then held Sibanda's neck and strangled her.

Choga together with his girlfriend started assaulting Sibanda with fists and several times while she was on the floor.

Sibanda managed to bite Choga to free herself. It is alleged that the girlfriend ran away and left Choga.

Sibanda tried to follow the girlfriend but was stopped by Choga who continued assaulting her using fists until their 14-year old-daughter intervened and shouted at Choga.

He was remanded in custody.
