Known affectionately as Tinmac Machakaire, who is also the founder of the Tinmac Foundation, organized the tournament to give back to his hometown community. His goal is to uplift young talent, promote a positive lifestyle, and offer meaningful alternatives to drug use.

On the event,  he announced the substantial $10000 cash prize  for the tournament's winning team.Machakaire’s sponsorship has not only fueled the competition but has also raised hopes for young players in wedza to reach the national Premier Soccer League.

"I want to see someone from here in Wedza playing in the Premier Soccer League. This tournament is a chance for young players to show their skills and aspire to bigger leagues,” said Machakaire during the event.

The launch event was graced by Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, Emily Jesaya, who echoed Machakaire’s sentiments on the importance of empowering youth.

Jesaya donated over 300 soccer balls to help equip teams and encourage wider participation. "I am very happy with what Machakaire has done here in Wedza. Empowering our youth, who are the future leaders of our nation, is essential," she said

The Wedza South tournament, which was launched on November 2, had attracted immense attention from the community, bringing families and supporters together to cheer on local teams. Machakaire’s vision for the league goes beyond just the tournament, as he envisions an ongoing Wedza South League that will continue to foster young talent even after the tournament concludes.

As local teams compete for the grand prize, the initiative is also seen as a powerful step towards building a culture of sportsmanship and resilience in the region.

Investing in Wedza’s youth, Machakaire is providing not just resources but a platform for young people to dream big, work hard, and aim for a brighter future in Zimbabwe's sporting arena.
