Tinashe Machingafa, a Shamva-based artisan miner, recently learned the hard way that going home with strange women does not always lead to a happy ending.
The chap’s quest for after-work relaxation took a nosedive when a different kind of prospector—Monalisa Mutize—swiped his $900 after knocking him unconscious with a spiked beer.
The saga began when Machingafa decided to treat himself to a “short time” session with Mutize. They retired to a room in a lodge from which the Mutoko-hailing Mutize was operating her sex work business.
But post-coital bliss turned to darkness when she handed him a beer.
Machingafa woke up the next morning, his pockets empty, and promptly reported the heist.
Mutize, now facing the music in court, admitted her guilt with all the charm of a rusty shovel.
Prosecutor Munyaradzi Nengomasha proved before the courts that Mutize had acted more as a criminal than a sex worker.
Magistrate Ruramai Chitumbura postponed sentencing until Tuesday.
Moral of the story? In Shamva, it’s not just the earth that’s full of surprises—sometimes danger comes slicked with lipstick and the promise of a nice time!
