A fire broke out early morning today, destroying several clothing shops housed at the S. Nyahokwe Mall located at Corner First and George Silundika in Harare.
Speaking to Zim Now, owner of the building Webster Nyahokwe said the fire was reportedly started by an electrical fault.
“The fire started in the first floor in Shop Number 9 and spread to other shops. The fire was due to some electrical fault. At the moment, I am not yet sure about the damage to the property,” Nyahokwe said.

Fire fighters arrived at the scene as soon as the department was informed of the incident.
One vendor said the fire was started by electrical wires which were connected to Christmas lights at one of the shops at the mall.
He also said the wires spark from time to time.
The value of property lost in the fire is still not known as the fire brigade is still at the site battling the inferno.
