Police have launched a manhunt for armed robbers who pounced on a Mukuru outlet at Jerera Growth Point, Zaka in Masvingo Province and got away with US$10 058 and ZAR35 000 on Monday.
In a statement, police said: “Three unknown suspects armed with two pistols stole a cellphone, US$13 cash and a Toyota Passo vehicle, registration number AEQ 062 from a motorist, 20, they had allegedly hired from Jerera Growth Point, Zaka to Devure Business Centre.
“The suspects used the stolen vehicle as get-away car and pounced at Mukuru shop at Jerera Growth Point where they stole US$10 058 and ZAR 35 000 cash,” the statement reads.
The stolen vehicle was recovered.
Police are appealing for information that might help apprehend the suspects.
Mukuru has been hit with several armed robbery heists in different parts of the country. In September this year five men appeared in court over charges of armed robbery of Mukuru Gokwe.
In July this year another gang raided a cash in transit vehicle at Mukuru Money Transfer Agency in Bulawayo and stole US$100 000 and over R500 000.
