Former Harare South Member of Parliament, Shadreck Mashayamombe, who was a key member of the Generation 40 that was led by former First Lady Grace Mugabe, has said he is quitting active politics to concentrate on his business and farming.
Mashayamombe, who said the decision to leave politics was personal, has been in self-imposed exile in South Africa since November 2017 when the late former president Robert Mugabe was removed in a coup.
The former legislator, who claims he was abducted during the coup and robbed of US$50 000, also claims his house was raided in December 2017 and he was badly assaulted, along with his brother.
He contested the July 2018 elections as an MDC Alliance candidate and lost to incumbent MP, Tongai Mnangagwa
