Business travelers in Johannesburg will soon enjoy the same convenience their Harare counterparts have long relied on: the ability to fly in, conduct a full day’s work in Zimbabwe’s capital, and return home the same evening.
Fastjet Zimbabwe yesterday announced a new early morning service on the Johannesburg–Harare route, starting 29 September 2025.
Chief Commercial Officer Vivian Ruwuya said the decision followed strong demand from Johannesburg-based businesspeople:
“Our fastjet flight FN8220 now allows our customers an early morning departure from Johannesburg, resulting in a full business day in Harare. The additional flight is already available for booking.”
The new frequency, operated daily except Saturdays on the Embraer ERJ145, departs Johannesburg at 06:55 AM and lands in Harare at 08:40 AM. The evening return leg, leaving Harare at 7:00 PM, ensures travelers are back in Johannesburg before 9:00 PM.
Previously, South African businesspeople often had little choice but to overnight in Harare. Now, they can mirror the pattern long available to Harare-based travelers, who regularly make same-day business runs to Johannesburg.
At the Sanganai Hlanganani Kumbanayi Tourism Expo in Mutare, Fastjet spokesperson Nunurai Ndawana underscored the wider economic impact:
