Chiefs turn fixture cancellation into boost for Megawatt FC Clash

Bulawayo Chiefs coach John Nyikadzino has welcomed the unexpected break following the cancellation of their Central Region Soccer League fixture against Ajax Hotspur Movers, viewing it as a timely opportunity to sharpen his squad’s preparations ahead of their next encounter with Megawatt FC.

Speaking after the development, Nyikadzino expressed optimism that the pause would give his team the edge they need as the league enters its decisive stage, with only six fixtures left before the curtain comes down on the 2025 season.

“We take this as an opportunity to prepare for our next fixture against Megawatt FC,” Nyikadzino said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum in their push for promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The coach also pointed out that the break would help several key players on the injury list regain fitness, giving the team a fuller squad heading into the crucial final stretch. “It’s an opportunity for the players who were injured to fully recover and resume our normal training sessions next week,” he explained.

With the Chiefs currently sitting at the top of the league table, Nyikadzino underlined the vital role fans have played in driving the team’s success. He urged them to continue rallying behind the club as they look to secure PSL promotion.

“All I say to the fans is, keep on supporting us so that we feel motivated and also achieve our goal,” he said.
