Former Dynamos Football Club gaffer Tonderai Ndiraya has joined newly-promoted and ambitious side Simba Bhora after the Harare-based side decided against extending his contract which expired on December 31.
Ndiraya takes over from Arthur Tutani who is ineligible to coach in the Premier Soccer League because he does not have the mandatory CAF A coaching licence required for one to coach in the topflight.
The PSL newboys’ secretary-general Taurai Janhi said the Shamva-based side picked on Ndiraya – nicknamed Stanza during his playing days at the Glamour Boys – because of his experience and capability.
“As Simba Bhora we are excited to announce the appointment of Tonderai Ndiraya as our head coach going into the forthcoming season. We believe he is the right coach to lead us into the Premier Soccer League,” said Janhi.
“Coach Ndiraya is one of the best coaches in the country and we believe he is a coach who can handle pressure in the Premier Soccer League given that he has coached at Dynamos and at Ngezi Platinum Stars. We also felt he is a coach whose ambition dovetails with our ambitions as well.”
Janhi also added that they were busy upgrading Wadzanai Stadium so that they can host their home matches in Shamva.
“We are already in the process of upgrading Wadzanai Stadium so that we can play our matches in Shamva. Our team is also a vehicle for the marketing and development of Shamva and the whole of Mashonaland Central Province. We have future plans to make Shamva and Mashonaland Central the epicenter of football development in the country,” Janhi also said.
Simba Bhora’s promotion came on the back of winning the Northern Region Soccer League Championship and has several experienced players on its books, including Simba Chinani, Ali sadiki, Ronald Chitiyo, Tinashe Bakalasi, Hardlife Zvirekwi and Brighton Tuwaya among others who have played in the PSL before.
