ZPC Kariba Sacks Headcoach Mashipe

ZPC Kariba FC have sacked head coach Newman Mashipe following a disappointing run of results in the current season.

The club confirmed the decision in a statement released on 11 June, announcing that Mashipe and his assistant Newton Chitewe had been relieved of their duties with immediate effect after a mutual agreement.

“The club wishes to inform its valued stakeholders, supporters and partners that we have mutually parted ways with Head Coach Newman Mashipe and Assistant Coach Newton Chitewe,” read part of the statement. “We thank them for their commitment, professionalism and dedication during their tenure.”

Mashipe leaves the club after overseeing 17 league matches, recording three wins, nine draws and five defeats. The team has struggled to find winning consistency and currently sits 13th on the log with 18 points, a position that ultimately forced the club’s hand.

Despite periods where the team showed resilience, ZPC Kariba were unable to turn draws into victories, a factor that proved costly in their league campaign and increased pressure on the technical bench.

The club has already moved to steady the ship, announcing Expense Chitukutuku as the new head coach with immediate effect. He is expected to take charge of the team as they aim to salvage the remainder of the season and improve their league standing.

This dismissal also becomes only the second head coaching change in the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, following an earlier sacking of Triangle United coach Thomas Ruzive after a difficult start to the campaign.
