I have worked at CAPS United FC and I have sat in meetings where the Club President, Honourable Farai Jere, addressed both the players and the technical team.
From those experiences, I came to understand one thing very clearly, Hon Jere is deeply passionate about CAPS United and demands the highest standards from everyone associated with the club.
Those who know him understand that when the club is underperforming, he does not hide behind diplomatic language. He speaks frankly, directly and with emotion because he genuinely cares about the badge, the supporters and the history of this great institution. That has always been his leadership style.
Looking at the current situation, I do not believe the President is confused or acting irrationally. I believe he is angry and many supporters can understand why. Football is a results business. When a club with the stature and expectations of CAPS United struggles, questions will inevitably be asked of everyone, from the boardroom to the technical bench and the players on the pitch.

The scrutiny surrounding goalkeeper Magalane has grown because of some of the incidents witnessed during matches. Football supporters analyse every mistake, especially those made by goalkeepers because they often lead directly to goals.
When you watch some of the match footage, it is understandable that supporters would ask difficult questions about certain decisions and performances. That is part of the pressure that comes with playing for one of Zimbabwe’s biggest football clubs.
However, poor performances should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of bad intentions. Football is a game of human error and every player can have difficult moments. Criticism should therefore focus on performances rather than speculation about a player’s loyalty unless there is credible evidence to support such claims.
Personally, I stand with the CAPS United President and with the club as a whole. We had built positive momentum at one stage, making our recent setbacks even more frustrating. My hope is that everyone involved, management, the technical team and the players responds positively, takes responsibility where necessary, and works together to restore the standards that CAPS United supporters expect.
Makepekepe is bigger than any individual. Players, coaches and administrators will come and go, but the institution remains. Every decision should ultimately serve the best interests of CAPS United Football Club.
