A 21-year-old man from Bindura, appeared before the Concession magistrate Joshua Nembaware for defrauding a bottle store of beer.
Dunmore Ngorima was sentenced to two years in prison.
He defrauded the bottle of beer worth ZWL$672 900 through generating fake EcoCash transaction messages.
It is alleged that on March 8, at a Mansex Bottle Store in Concession, Ngorima misrepresented to the bartender that he had transferred ZWL$511 400 after producing a fake EcoCash message.
Ngorima repeated the same hoax on nine separate occasions.
The bottle store later discovered the prejudice and reported the matter to the police, leading to Ngorima’s arrest.
