Nine die in Easter holiday road traffic accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has reported a fatal road traffic accident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 7, along the Harare-Masvingo highway in which nine people lost their lives.

Via its official twitter handle, the ZRP said the accident happened around 0600 hours and apart from the nine confirmed dead, 31 others were injured.

“A Toyota Caravan kombi with 18 occupants and a mini bus with 22 occupants collided at the 192 km peg along the Harare-Masvingo Road. The bodies of the nine victims were taken to Mvuma Hospital mortuary for post-mortem while 20 injured passengers are admitted at the same hospital,” the ZRP said.

The other 11 injured passengers are admitted at Gweru Hospital and more details to be released in due course.
