At least seven people died while 43 others were injured when a Yutong bus that was travelling towards Kwekwe in the Midlands Province veered off the road, hit trees before landing on its left side on Saturday night.
The accident occurred along the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road.
According to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the JustRaw Bus was headed for Beitbridge.
“The bus was coming from Gokwe and headed for Beitbridge and upon reaching the 15km peg, it burst its front right tyre and the driver lost control.
“Six people died on the spot and one upon admission at Kwekwe General Hospital,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
The bus had sixty-two passengers on board and it veered off the road to the right, hit trees and overturned once, before landing on its left side.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Kwekwe General Hospital for post mortem while the injured were ferried to the same medical facility.
