Zimbabwe’s engagement and re-engagement drive continues to gain traction, with CemAir launching flights on the Victoria Falls-Johannesburg route this Wednesday.
The development comes as the government has upgraded the country’s major airports including the Victoria Falls and Robert Gabriel Mugabe international airports to lure more airlines into Destination Zimbabwe.
This has proved to be a strategic investment with several airlines now plying the Zimbabwe route.
CemAir is the latest after launching weekly flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls.
“We are excited by this development. It has brought more variety too,” said one of the passengers.
Another said: “We will have more choices and it means more business for the country.”
The airline says Johannesburg-Victoria Falls is a promising route.
“We decided to launch flights on the Victoria Falls-Johannesburg route because there is business that can support us. We are looking at increasing frequencies as well as fly to other destination such as Harare,” said CemAir Public Sector Manager, Koena Lerotholi.
CemAir is the ninth airline to fly into Victoria Falls.
“We are excited about the introduction of the CemAir flight to Victoria Falls. This means more options and variety for our passengers, more business for ACZ, more tourists for the tourism industry, hence contributing to the economy,” said ACZ Marketing and Business Development Manager, Sarudzai Muza.
The government is pursuing a robust engagement and re-engagement drive which continues to lure investment into various sectors of the economy.
