Two people died on the spot while thirty others were injured on Saturday evening when a CAG bus travelling from Gokwe Centre to Chitekete veered off the road, overturned and landed on its roof after hitting a lorry from behind.
The accident occurred at the 30km peg along Gokwe-Siabuwa road.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the accident on their X wall,
“A CAG bus with 50 passengers on board hit the tailboard of a Hino truck with six passengers on board resulting in the Hino truck veering off the road to the left before overturning and landing on its wheels.
“Subsequently, the bus veered off the road before overturning and landing on its roof. The bodies of the victims were taken to Gokwe District Hospital for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital.”
Meanwhile, in another fatal road traffic accident on Saturday again at around 1130 hours at the 62km peg along Ngundu-Tanganda road, two people were killed while fifteen others were injured when a Nissan Caravan vehicle veered off the road before overturning and landing on its roof.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Chiredzi General Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
