Police name victims of Kariba boat mishap

The Zimbabwe Republic Police have named the victims who died when a dinkey boat capsized on Lake Kariba on Saturday afternoon around 1230pm.

National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the victims were positively identified by their next of kin.

Ass Comm Nyathi said the deceased are “Sergeant Tatenda Nekati, 36; Corporal Nxobile Ncube both of the Zimbabwe National Army; Trust Phiri, 24, of Chilimba Village, Negande, Kariba and Adson Mupiringano, 40, of Kariba”.

Ass Comm Nyathi also said that the bodies of the deceased were retrieved on Sunday and Monday and taken to Kariba District Hospital mortuary for post mortem, adding that members of the public must be safety conscious when using dinkey boats.
