Police on Friday arrested a 45-year-old man, Bronie Ncube, at a lodge in Victoria Falls after being found with drugs with a street value of ZWL$630 000.
Police confirmed the arrest on X wall.
“On 24/11/23, police in Victoria Falls acted on received information and arrested Bronie Ncube, 45, at a lodge in connection with unlawful possession of a sachet of dagga and 3 grammes of khat with a street value of ZWL$630 000.00.”
The drugs were stashed on roof trusses and in the inner lining of the door mat.
In Bulawayo, three were arrested in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a house in Emthunzini, Bulawayo on Sunday.
Mbalehle Ncube, 22, Hlonipani Sibanda, 26, and Temba Moyo, 26, attacked Fios Sibanda, 46, following an argument during a beer drinking spree.
“Mbalehle Ncube hit the victim, with a plastic dish on the head whilst Themba Moyo hit him with an electric cable on the back before Hlonipani Sibanda stabbed him with a nail cutter knife on the neck,” police confirmed.
Meanwhile, in Masvingo Alward Zengwa, 33, is on the run after allegedly murdering his brother, Zvirwere Zvirwere by hitting him with a log and switch all over the body on Monday.
“The suspect hit his brother, Zvirwere Zvirwere with a log and switch all over the body for allegedly failing to perform rituals meant to appease the spirit of the dead in the family,” said the police.
The Zvirwere Zvirwere died on the spot.
Police are appealing for any information which may lead to his arrest to report at any nearest police station.
In another unrelated incident, at least two people were killed whist nine others were injured in a road accident at the 238-kilometre peg along the Mutare-Masvingo road on Sunday afternoon when a Toyota Hiace kombi veered off the road to the right before overturning and landing on its left side.
Police confirmed the accident.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 238-kilometre peg along Mutare-Masvingo Road on 26/11/23 at around 1130 hours in which two people were killed whilst nine others were injured when a Toyota Hiace kombi veered off the road to the right before overturning and landing on its left side.”
The vehicle had burst its rear left tyre.
The bodies were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital.
