Kuwadzana East legislator, Chalton Hwnde has finally decided to come out in the open and explain his fallout with former opposition Citizens Coalition for Change leader, Nelson Chamisa's camp and allegations of dining and winning with disputed party secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu.
Hwende and senior party officials, including Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube, have been accused of sponsoring Tshabangu’s recalls, which led to the destabilisation of the party and ultimate exiting of Chamisa.
The three politicians have seemingly not given the public enough explanation about the situation in CCC, their side of the story and the way forward following Chamisa's decision to dump the party.
Hwende on Monday promised to reveal to the public what took place in CCC. He further apologised for keeping people guessing by being silent.
He further intends to explain his alleged removal from the position of secretary general.
“Happy new week, everyone. Thank you to all who reached out with concern over my temporary deactivation of this account. It’s been a turbulent time here on X, and not without reason. I’ve remained quiet through the instability and major issues that have engulfed CCC, not by choice, but due to circumstances beyond my control. I will always have total respect for our Leader, President Nelson Chamisa, and ultimately, many things were not for me to discuss publicly, despite the urge,” Hwende said.
“I realise now how much my silence on certain matters has affected our supporters and the public, and for that, I am truly sorry. It’s been crucial to avoid fuelling the flames of division further. The times I have attempted to defend myself from abuse and unfounded allegations could and should have been handled better. It is difficult to defend myself, with both hands tied behind my back. For this, again, my sincere apologies to everyone who has had to witness this and to anyone I offended in those moments. I will be far more reflective and conscientious in how I respond publicly, going forward."
Hwende’s narrative will be streamed on Heart and Soul TV on Thursday.
“I’ll be speaking with Blessed Mhlanga on Thursday 22nd Feb, about my views on CCC issues, the painful recalls, Tshabangu’s allegations, party resources for agents, my removal as SG etc. I am keen to engage honestly and am happy to answer all questions about myself and my conduct. Please, leave your questions in the comments below.
“Until the interview, I will try to keep the content on this page informative and focused on my Constituency in Kuwadzana East, about what is going on with Public Accounts (as I am the chairman of that committee) and things of personal interest.”
