An 11-year-old boy lost his life after drowning while swimming with friends on February 21 at Kimto Dam in Madley, Ruwa.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident.
Drowning incidents in Zimbabwe, particularly in rivers and water bodies, have been on the rise.
A total of 483 drowning cases were recorded nationwide between January and December 2020.
This marked an increase compared to the 411 cases reported during the same period in 2019.
In January 2021 alone, 59 drowning cases were recorded across the country.
The recent loss of the young life at Kimton Dam underscores the ongoing challenges related to water safety.
On February 5, a 9-year-old boy, Alois Muputisi died after drowning in a dip tank in Sanyati.
