The Government of Zimbabweand the Republic of China are on Friday expected to sign an agreement that will result in the drilling of boreholes for people and communities affected by Cyclone Idai.

Under the project, 300 boreholes will be drilled across Manicaland, Masvingo, Mashonaland East and Midlands Provinces.

The partnership will greatly enhance access to clean water, providing vital support to communities affected by Cyclone Idai.

In 2019, the Chinese Embassy and Chinese community in Zimbabwe donated food, purified water and equipment worth US$200 000 to help the victims of Cyclone Idai in the country.

Last year in April, the Chinese Embassy donated 200 boreholes in Manicaland under the 500 boreholes drilling project.

The boreholes were drilled for villagers, clinics and schools that had no access to safe drinking water.
