A woman who allegedly went to the Old Parliament Building claiming to be looking for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and later on brought an axe before destroying the entrance door has appeared in court.
Annah Phiri, 43, of Chinhoyi, appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with malicious damage to property.
She will appear in court on May 10.
The State alleges that on April 23, at Old Parliament Building, Nelson Mandela Avenue, Phiri went there and approached the security personnel on duty.
It is alleged that she requested to see President Mnangagwa and was told that he was not at the premises.
Phiri was referred to the main entrance of the Parliament Building for assistance where she was denied entrance.
The court heard that she then pretended to be leaving the building and later returned holding an axe.
She swore she would destroy the building saying she was being used by President Mnangagwa and his goblins.
Phiri is alleged to have struck the entrance door of the building with the axe, causing extensive damages to it.
