Man goes mental at Eat and Lick

A Harare man, who went to fast foods outlet, Eat 'n Lick, took drinks from the fridge and poured them on the floor before striking a patron with a pizza machete, has appeared in court.

Edward Nzerera, 34, of Budiriro 1, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with malicious damage to property.

He was remanded in custody to May 31.

The State alleges that on May 12, at Eat ‘n Lick, number 92 Chinhoyi Street, in the Harare CBD, Nzerera entered Eat ’n Lick.

The court heard that Nzerera opened a fridge and took out 7x300ml Pepsi drinks and poured them one by one on the floor before threatening everyone in the eatery.

Nzerera allegedly took a pizza pan and hit the counter with it, with passersby watching and then trying to help by restraining him but he took a pizza machete and hit one Tendai Makwenzi once on the head.

The security team later managed to apprehend Nzerera and took him to the police station for further management.

Makwenzi sustained a cut on the face and was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
