Total Farm Solutions (TFS) walked away with a Diamond for the Leader in Agricultural Technology of the year in the MegaFest Business Leadership Awards.
Speaking to Zim Now, TFS Managing Director Tapiwa Mugabe said they are honored to have received an award for the work they are doing in communities.
“We feel humbled to winning the award because it is recognition of the work that we are doing to improve the livelihoods of farmers and country at large.
“The award is dedicated to all the people who have supported us during this journey of changing the landscape of agriculture through structure for food production.
“TFS aims to empower farmers to become profitable and this objective is met through offering technology and greenhouse solutions that enable farmers to produce crops profitably without being affected by weather conditions,” Mugabe said.
TFS was established after realising how important it was for farmers to minimise risk in farming.
The company started as a consultancy firm offering advisory services to farmers on how to mitigate risk in farming and eventually started offering organic foliar fertilisers to supplement crop nutrition before it started greenhouse construction and advisory services.
Mugabe said the greatest challenge the company has faced is lack of financing organisations and funding greenhouse farmers who have embraced the concept of greenhouse farming.
TFS has worked with small scale and marginalised communities offering alternative solutions to food production.
TFS is currently working on 13 projects across the country. Amongst them is a recently completed 2000 square metre greenhouse in Chabwino in Mashonaland East for the production of tomatoes.
Other current projects are in Goromonzi, Ruwa, Domboshava, Malbereign, Marlborough, Bulawayo, Masvingo, Chiredzi and Mahusekwa.
Mugabe also said the company aims to expand in regional countries such as Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia.
Mugabe is offering those in Johanneburg a chance to meet him between 16 and 18 November 2022.
He is willing to share with the opportunities and how to make money with greenhouse farming in Zimbabwe.
