Police in Mberengwa have arrested one of their own for killing his own mother this Sunday.
Elvis Zhou, 29, threw bricks at his mother, Crescentia Siziba, 54, and she died as a result of the attack.
Zhou who was stationed at Mutare Central has recently been sent on leave after developing mental problems
An uncle escorted him to Mberengwa his rural home on November 25.
On November 26 Zhou reportedly demanded cigarettes from his wife.
When the wife did not comply, Zhou searched the whole house and became violent when he could not find any cigarettes.
Zhou allegedly turned violent and strangled his wife before assaulting her with open hands.
Siziba tried to intervene and Zhou threw bricks at her and she died from the injuries.
Zhou is currently assisting police with investigations.
