Two British nationals who were caught attempting to smuggle nearly 67kg of dagga into Zimbabwe through Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport have been remanded in custody.
Tihaise Darlin Elisha ,18, and Taylor Tamara Simone ,20, both from Birmingham, United Kingdom, appeared before Harare magistrate Tapiwa Banda over the weekend charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
The pair was arrested on May 1 after detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit, acting on a tip-off, intercepted them upon arrival aboard Ethiopian Airways Flight 873.
Authorities recovered 124 packs of dagga, weighing approximately 66.9kg and hidden across four suitcases. The consignment has an estimated street value of US$669,000.
They were taken into custody after being issued a ZIMRA exhibits seizure confirmation receipt. The case is still under investigation.
