Judgement on the High Court ruling, which found Harare Businessman Wicknell Chivayo not guilty of contravening contractual agreements with Zesa Holdings subsidiary, the Zimbabwe Power Company has been reserved by the Supreme Court.

This comes after Chivayo’s Company, Intratrek Zimbabwe was granted a contract to implement a solar project in Gwanda.

ZPC is appealing against a High Court ruling which found Chivayo not guilty of contravening contractual agreements and gave him the greenlight to go ahead with the Gwanda Solar Project.

The power company claims that Chivayo, through Intratrek Zimbabwe, failed to meet the prescribed conditions of the contract.

The agreement between the two parties was signed after a successful tender bid, for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 1 000 MW Gwanda Solar Power Station in 2015.

ZPC later sued Chivayo for fraud, but in a development that was slammed by the court of public opinion, he was cleared by the courts and given the greenlight to continue with the implementation of the project.
