The High Court has postponed sentencing in Henrietta Rushwaya’s case to 9am on Tuesday, with Justice Pisirayi Kwenda, saying the court will give priority to the case 9am.

The Zimbabwe Miners Federation president was convicted on allegations of attempting to smuggle six kilogrammes of gold out of the country through the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

It is now three years after she was arrested, but her co-accused Central Intelligence Organisation employees Stephen Tserai and Raphios Mufandauya were found not guilty due to lack of evidence.

Rushwaya was attempting to get into a flight to Dubai, with the gold, valued at US$333 042.28.

She was attempting to take the gold through the VIP Route at the airport on October 26 in 2020.

Rushwaya denied the allegations, saying she had picked the wrong bag.
