A man who had been arraigned before the court accused of raping a 10-year old juvenile, has been denied bail.
Tinotenda Gatsi, 20, of Chief Chinamhora, appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with rape.
He was ordered to appear in court on December 5 and he was advised to apply at the High Court.
The State, through prosecutor Ethel Mahachi, alleges that in October 2023, at Kadyausavi Village, Chief Chinamhora, the complainant was left with other children while her guardian had gone to work.
Gatsi called the complainant to his room and showed her porno videos which were on his phone while other children were asleep.
He allegedly promised to have a deal with the complainant and would give her US$1, so that he would have sex with her.
The complainant allegedly agreed.
It is alleged that both Gatsi and the complainant removed their clothes, Gatsi ordered the complainant to lie down on here back and complainant complied and he had sex with her.
After that, Gatsi gave US$1 to the complainant.
The matter came to light when the complainant’s grandmother suspected she was doing some bad things with Gatsi.
She then interviewed her and complainant told her that Gatsi only showed porn videos which were in his phone.
Her uncle later escorted her to the police to file a report.
