The Airports Company of Zimbabwe has confirmed reports that Rwandair experienced a tyre burst during take-off at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, forcing other planes to divert routes on Monday afternoon.
The incident forced Ethiopian Airlines flight ET873 to abandon landing in Harare and instead headed for Lusaka, Zambia.
“Rwandair experienced a tyre burst during take-off. As a result, there is a temporary disruption of service on the runway. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. No injuries were recorded,” ACZ said in a statement on X.
The Ethiopian Airline is likely to experience a huge bill as they have to either come back or put the travellers in hotels.
