Veteran midfielder Ralph Kawondera, who enjoyed a resurgence at Manica Diamonds last season, is on the radar of Harare giants CAPS United and Dynamos following the expiry of his contract.

Though tight-lipped about his future, the former Soccer Star of the Year finalist confirmed he won’t extend his stay with the Gem Boys: “I haven’t renewed with Manica Diamonds and have received offers, but I’m still weighing my options.”

However, sources close to the player reveal interest from both CAPS United and Dynamos, with GreenFuel also in the mix for the experienced midfielder’s signature.

Kawondera’s career peaked in 2019 with Triangle, earning him a best eleven selection and runner-up position in the PSL. Stints at FC Platinum and Dynamos followed, but the latter proved less fruitful. He found his mojo again at Manica Diamonds, becoming a key player and second-highest scorer with five goals in their impressive second-place finish.

Despite his vital role, Kawondera and Manica Diamonds couldn’t agree on a contract extension, prompting his potential return to Harare. Recent visits to CAPS United offices have fuelled speculation, though the Green Machine remain officially silent.

Kawondera’s experience and proven talent make him a tempting prospect for both Harare giants. The battle for his signature promises to be an intriguing subplot as the 2024 season approaches.
