A Harare lawyer appeared in court this Friday (March 1) after she employed a traditional healer to harm Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission investigators and other persons involved in a fraud case against her.
Linda Kovi of Kanoti and Partners appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with obstructing the course of justice.
The State, through prosecutor Anesu Chirenje outlined that Kovi was initially arrested in November 2023, by Zacc accused of fraudulently acquiring a conversion certificate with the Zimbabwe Council for Legal Education.
While out on bail, Kovi allegedly conspired with police officers and threatened to soil the names of Zacc officers that were doing the investigations.
Kovi also allegedly sought the services of Chief Dotito, a traditional healer who is still at large, to harm the witness in the matter, Zacc officers and court officials handling her fraud case.
Kovi will appear for remand hearing on Monday.
