A Ruwa man who hid an unlicensed gun at an apostolic church shrine in a bid to conceal it from being seen has appeared in court.

Silas Mhembere, 27, of Ruwa appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Courts accused of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The State, through Zororai Nkomo, alleges that on April, 2, 2023, police were informed that Mhembere had a pistol at his house, but did not have a license for it.

Police managed to arrest Mhembere, interview him until he voluntarily led them to the recovery of a Magnum revolver which he had buried underground at an apostolic church shrine near Timire Park suburb in Ruwa.

Mhembere further led the police to his house where they found 2×357mm rounds and a 1×357mm spent cartridge covered beneath his bed.

He was also found with a camouflaged shirt on the same day.

Magistrate Mangosi ordered him to appear in court Wednesday for bail application.
