An Eastlea woman who was caught with an assortment of drugs and other dangerous substances with a street value of about ZWL$8 000 000 has appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts.

Vimbainashe Magurei, 40, appeared before magistrate Munashe Chibanda charged with dealing with dangerous drugs.

The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke, alleges that on July 12, 2023, at around 1600 hours, police officers were informed that there was rampant selling and abuse of dangerous drugs at Shamrock Court located in Waterhill Avenue, Eastlea, Harare.

Detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics went to the area and made their surveillance at the flat.

They discovered that there was a hive of activity as youths went up and downstairs.

They went to a room on the first floor of the house and found a metal door which had a small opening.

They peeped through that door opening and saw Magurei seated on the bed picking satchets of dagga from the bed, stashing them into a black plastic bag.

The detectives knocked on the door but Magurei refused to open, prompting them to force-open the door and entered.

While inside, they identified themselves and advised her the purpose of their visit.

They did a body search on her, leading to the seizure of five satchets of crystal methamphetamine from her right black jacket pocket.

More searches led to the seizure of 19x100mls Bron Cleer, 24x100mls Benylin cough syrups and 62 satchets of dagga in a black plastic bag on the bed where she was seated.

A black plastic bag was also picked from the floor beside the bed, leading to the seizure of 150 satchets of crystal methamphetamine and 176 J-pipes.

She was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare together with the seized drugs.

A field test of the drugs was done in her and it tested positive to Methamphetamine which weighed approximately 100 grammes and the dagga weighed approximately 120 grammes.

The seized contraband had a street value of the ZWL$8 000 000.

She will appear in court on Tuesday for bail ruling.
