The fraud trial of gospel singer, Ivy Kombo and her husband, Admire Kasi took an unexpected turn. Prosecutors want High Court judge Justice Sylvia Chirawu-Mugomba to be called as a witness.
Kombo and Kasi are accused of using fake law certificates to practice law in Zimbabwe. Their lawyers keep referencing a letter supposedly written by Judge Chirawu-Mugomba.
Prosecutors argue they haven’t seen this letter before and believe the judge can clarify its origin.
Kombo and Kasi’s lawyers are questioning why the judge wasn’t interviewed earlier in the investigation.
The magistrate will decide on May 8 whether Judge Chirawu-Mugomba will be called to testify.
